The Pistons Academy Camp Tour, powered by Kroger, stops this week in Bloomfield Hills for the 16th straight summer. This is traditionally one of the most popular summer camps!
125 campers took to the courts at the Cross of Christ Church Gymnasium Monday for the 16th annual Ultimate Hoops Week Basketball Camp. “I love this camp because we play so many games,” said long-time camper Chase Kukes, “I’ve been playing basketball all summer and can’t wait to get these games going!”
The morning consisted mostly of evaluations and pre-season scrimmages as coaches worked to create even and balanced teams. After lunch, teams were set, players got their uniforms and games began. In 4-Ball, Merrick Michaelson powered his team to a 2-0 record and a camp-high 128 points. The only other undefeated team was Baylor, led by sharp shooting Mori Miller. In the Free-Throw competition, Michaelson, who also shares the camp lead with Joseph Hakim, scored an impressive 12 out of 12 points. Close behind are Henry Jackson (11) and Colin keane (10). “This may be one of the closest free-throw competitions ever,” said Camp Director Geo Thomas, “We have some amazing shooters in camp like Tommy Vogt, Kenedi Jones, Chase Tonnies and Noah Gyarmati. It is going to be a great week of shooting!”

The 1986 NBA Draft was an impactful one for the Detroit Pistons as they drafted two players who helped them win back-to-back NBA Champions. Can you name those players?
If you know who those players are, write their names down on a 3×5 piece of paper and turn it in at check-in tomorrow morning. Winning answers will be placed into a drawing for a $50 Nike gift card. Be sure to put your name on it!
