ACADEMY RETURNS TO NOVI FOR 5TH ANNUAL HOOPS CAMP!

July 29th, 2019

Novi 2

The Pistons Academy Summer Camp Tour made its annual stop in Novi today for the 5th straight year as 162 campers converged at Novi Meadows School.  “This is our 3rd straight summer where we have sold out,” said Camp Director Geo Thomas, “We love the excitement and energy that the kids here bring to camp!”

It was a great start today, especially in the Red/White Division as campers began the FT Contest and the 4-Ball Tournament.  FT Scores will be posted tomorrow.  In the 4-Ball Contest, four teams are tied for first with 2-0 records.  However, Indiana (1-1) has the high score with 73 points.  To view the standings, click here: Novi 4-Ball Standings

Today’s theme was respect and the following players earned accolades from Pistons Academy Coaches for their outstanding respect shown at camp: Anika Maru, Jacob Semke, Jake Slankster, Lillian Swegles and Sisi Haran. It indeed was a great start for a great camp!

UPDATES FROM THE RED DIVISION:

From the desk of the amazing Coach Bethany… Hello and Welcome to the Red Division Live Broadcast from Novi Meadows. Some highlights from today was Team 2’s impeccable performance during the ball races at the end of the day today.

Our captains for 5-on-5 are Dominick Balmer-Angi , Dominic Calka, Blake Wdowiak, Derek Kaminski, and Jack Corneau.   Our Player of the Day, Blake Wdowiak, is a player who doubles in respect AND hustle, and overall had a great day. It is always appreciated when a camper comes in and is ready to work on day one. The coaches are looking forward to seeing him hustle and work hard throughout the week.  Check out all the Red Division Standings here: Red Division Stats
A friendly reminder to parents, that if your child is on the attached free throw list, you drop off and pick up your child from Novi Meadows Elementary 5th grade school (where we were today).

Thanks for coming to my TedTalk, and we’ll get back to you tomorrow!

IMPOSSIBLE QUESTION:

Name the Detroit Pistons Player who was known for rebounding and defense and was known as “The Worm.”

If you think you know the answer, write it down on a 3×5 piece of paper and turn it in at check-in tomorrow morning. Winning answers will be placed in a drawing for some cool Pistons Prizes!
