The Pistons Academy summer basketball camp tour, presented by Kroger, makes it’s annual stop at Brighton High School.

Tuesday was Day 2 of the annual Detroit Pistons summer basketball camp at Brighton High School. This year’s group of campers started strong on Monday, but as impressive as Day 1 was, Tuesday saw the campers take it to another level.

Tuesday got started with Camp Director Aaron Smith providing a message about working hard, being a good person and always doing your best. He told the campers the story of how he once dreamed of playing in the NBA, but when that opportunity never came he was still able to earn a career in the NBA with the Pistons. “I think it’s important for the campers to have dreams and work every day towards those dreams,” said Coach Aaron. “And along the way, if you do the right things and you are a good person, a good student, and a good son, daughter, friend, etc. that good things will come your way,” he added.

Players continued working on their skills in the morning skill stations, including the ball handling session to start the day. Team competitions, including the 5-on-5 and 4-Ball contests, began to heat up. Campers also started the week-long Free Throw competition.

Each day, players will compete in a free throw competition to determine their seeding for Friday’s Bracket Play. The overall camp Champion in the Free Throw Contest will be decided on Friday. To view individual free throw scores following Tuesday, please view the following document: Brighton Camp FT Scores (Tuesday)

Another popular contest that players will compete in is the team 4-Ball competition. 4-Ball is a team shooting game that involves teams of 4 competing against opponents. Different point values are assigned to different spots on the floor, and each player shoots for 1 minute, attempting to accumulate as many points as they can for their team. To view the team 4-Ball standings after Day 1, please view the following document: Brighton Camp 4-Ball Standings (Tuesday)

This week, players in our youngest division, the Red Division, will compete separately from the White and Blue Divisions. To view the team standings, free throw scores and 4-Ball standings for the Red Division, please view the following document: Red Division Standings (Brighton)

Austen Suardini and Allyson Pace were named Tuesday’s Players of the Day for their work ethic and leadership on the court. Both players impressed the coaches throughout the day and will look to continue their strong performances.

Two-Part Question: How many NBA Championships have the Pistons won? In what year(s) did the Pistons win the Championship?

Lunch orders must be placed in the morning at check-in.
