The Pistons Academy offers several all-girl programs designed to teach the game at a fun yet challenging level.  We offer beginner programs all the way up to Elite Travel teams.  Below is a listing for Summer and Fall 2017. For additional Lady Pistons information, please contact Geo Thomas at


OpenGym1PISTONS ELITE OPEN TRAINING SESSIONS:  (Girls entering grades 6-8): 
Whether you are preparing for middle school basketball or just looking to work on your game or  the Pistons Elite Training Sessions will get you that extra court time you are looking for.  Pistons Elite Coaches will be on hand to teach  in these 75-minute workouts.  Held at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield, each session is $20.  Girls can arrive at 6pm and have a 15-minute open gym to warm up.  Then from 6:15-7:30pm, the girls will work on various skills, rule comprehension, conditioning and footwork.  RSVP with Coach Geo Thomas at  Training dates are as follows:

OpenGym1LADY PISTONS SUMMER CAMP:  (Girls grades 4-9):
Spend a week learning skills and playing games at the 3rd Annual Lady Pistons Basketball Camp.  This summer, the camp will run from 9am-2:30pm and be held at Seaholm High School in Birmingham.  Camp will focus on such areas as footwork, shooting, conditioning and play/rule comprehension.  Open to all skill levels but best suited for girls who are serious about learning the game.

OpenGym1LADY PISTONS SKILLS CLINIC:  Coaches and Careers: (Girls entering grades 4-10):
Welcome to the first ever “Lady Pistons: Coaches and Careers” event in Bloomfield Hills at Cross of Christ Church on Saturday, August 12 from 6-8 p.m. Cross of Christ is located at 1100 Lone Pine Rd., Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302. Participants will learn basketball skills from top Pistons Academy instructors.  Afterwards girls will interact and learn from local business women who have forged out successful careers in various industries. All girls will receive a Lady Pistons t-shirt, refreshments following the basketball clinic, and opportunities to win tons of Detroit Pistons giveaways, including 4 tickets to see the Pistons at the new Little Caesars Arena. IMG_3808FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS:  (Girls grades 4-6):
An instructional league for players looking to learn and refine their skills. Emphasis on team play and rule comprehension. Games and practices are Friday evenings between 6:15-8:15pm (teams will meet for just an hour in that time frame).  Teams will have three practices and five games during the season.  First day is Friday, September 22 and all players should report at 6:15pm. Season ends November 17. Registration starts August 1. 


Girls Elite

For 5th and 6th grade girls who are looking to play with and against advanced players.  Practices are held out of the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield and traditionally practice twice per week.  Teams will travel to local tournaments withing 90 minutes of Franklin. Tryouts are April 22 and 23, from 7-8pm at Franklin.  $10 tryout fee per day.  Informational parent meeting is 4/19 at Franklin Athletic Club from 6:30-7:15pm

PA awards Pics-3 195LADY PISTONS FALL LEAGUE:  (Girls grades 6-8):
 This fall, look for the Lady Pistons middle school league which will start immediately after the public school season ends!  Girls in grades 6-8 will be drafted onto teams and play a fall season which will run from Mid-October through early December.  This will be a great way to keep playing after your season ends.  More details will be posted here on July 15th or contact Geo Thomas if you would like more information:  248-371-2048
