Elite Skills Camp Raises the Bar on Wednesday

August 1st, 2018

Wednesday

The Pistons Academy summer basketball camp tour, presented by Kroger, makes it’s annual stop at the Elite Skills camp at Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield.

Day 3 (Wednesday) of our Elite Skills Camp in Southfield featured some incredible performances and lots of learning, development, and improvement from our campers. From Kenedi Jones and the Blue Division shooters nearly beating the coaches in All-Star 4-Ball, to Quran Creary, Damon RichmondJacob Lamb, and Xan Scheinfeld putting on a show in the White Division All-Star Game, it was a memorable day inside the Franklin Athletic Club gymnasium.

Wednesday’s word of the day was “attitude.” Players were reminded that there are only a few things that are within their control on the basketball court. They cannot control if a referee makes a bad call or if their teammate happens to make a mistake. However, any player can control their own effort, energy, and ATTITUDE. “Each day, we all make the choice to either have a positive attitude or a negative attitude,” said Camp Director Bryan Bollin. “We urged the campers to make the decision to have a positive attitude, no matter how difficult it may be at times,” he continued. “The campers were great today in terms of energy and attitude,” said Coach Alex Stuart.

CAMP STANDINGS

Campers continued to work on their free throw shooting in our camp-wide free throw competition. All week long, campers will be shooting free throws worth various point totals. The top 64 players with the most points at the end of the day Thursday will be placed in our Pistons Academy Free Throw Championship taking place on Friday.

Regular season action continued in the 4-Ball shooting competition. Clemson scored an impressive 131 points in the Steph Curry Division and they sit at the top of the standings. The race for camp MVP also continued, as campers were working hard to earn MVP points. These points are handed out based on performance, effort, attitude, and sportsmanship.
