FNL Semi Finals Photo Album

ANGELS 14, FIREBIRDS 8: The Angels core group of Brooke Brown, Hailey Lossia and Sloane Popov faced a strong semi-final opponent in the Firebirds to open the FNL playoffs. Laiken Connor and Natalie Weissman kept the Firebirds in the game, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a strong 2nd half from the Angels who advanced to the finals.

CRUSH 19, REBELS 15: With one finals spot left, the second semi-final game saw a rematch between the Rebels and the Crush. The first match-up of the season for these two teams came down to a tie and this game was just as close! The Rebels star McKinley Reid dominated the floor, but it wasn’t enough to surpass Hazel Guffey and her Crush teammates on their way to the finals.

ANGELS 14, CRUSH 13: In what was a dramatic championship game Friday night, the Angels escaped what would have been a shocking upset as they defeated the upstart Crush 14-13. Jacey Roy scored the game winning basketball in the final minute to give the Angels a lead they would never relinquish. Roy finished with 4 points , as did Sloane Popov. Brooke Brown paced the Angels with 2 points and 10 rebounds. The Crush played their best game of the season led by Londyn Hall (8 points). Hazel Guffey led all players with 4 blocks, while Natalia Salinas scored 4 points and had several key assists for the Crush.

Ravens vs Falcons Photo Album

#3 RAVENS 20, #1 FALCONS 17: In front of a star-studded crowd, the Ravens pulled off another comeback, this time rallying from an 8-point deficit with just under 9 minutes to play. Fresh off their comeback in the semifinals, the Ravens did it again in the Prep Division Championship Game, outscoring the Falcons 12-1 in the final 8 minutes to claim the Prep crown. The Falcons raced out to an early lead behind Kannon Shore, who scored a game-high 11 points. Trailing 16-8 in the second half, the Ravens rallied behind Saba Pachulia (7 points, all in 4th quarter) and Davit Pachulia (9 points, 4 points in 4th quarter), as well as tough defense from CJ Brown, Liam Kerr and Sam Thomas. The Falcons were unable to slow down the Ravens momentum, eventually falling by the final score of 20-17. Shore led the Falcons with 11 points, while Aaron Brayman and Caleb Pepper each scored 2 points. Zackary Kozouz and Luca Spadafore each knocked down a free throw for the Falcons, who had a great season overall.

Throughout much of the game and certainly in the closing minutes, the players on both teams received plenty of “oohs and ahhs” from the special guests in attendance. Those “special guests” happened to be the Detroit Pistons players, who came out to support their own teammates who had children playing in the Prep Division Championship. It was an incredible atmosphere and a big thrill for all of the Pistons Academy players. Thank you to the Pistons players for their support and encouragement of our Pistons Academy players.

Huskies vs Wildcats Photo Album

HUSKIES 29, WILDCATS 17: The Huskies jumped out to an 11-0 lead after one quarter in Saturday’s College Division Championship Game, using their size advantage around the rim on both offense and defense. Chase Kukes scored a game-high 14 points, including 6 in the opening quarter. The Huskies defense pressured the Wildcats into quick shots and their offense was relentless around the basket as they built a 19-6 halftime lead. The Wildcats were able to settle themselves down and played a much better second half. In fact, after the first quarter, the score was 18-17 in favor of the Huskies. Unfortunately for the Wildcats, they were unable to dig out of the 1st quarter deficit. Beau Kennard led the Wildcats with 6 points, Ari Blank scored 4 points and Kiefer Hornyak scored 3 points. For the Huskies, who won their 8th game overall this season, Jonathan Schwartz scored 13 points.

Warriors vs Celtics Photo Album

#2 WARRIORS 35, #1 CELTICS 33: In a very well-played and competitive Pro Division Championship Game, the second-seeded Warriors pulled off a minor upset, as they took down the top-seeded Celtics. After racing out to a 9-3 lead, the Celtics were in control for most of the 1st half. The Warriors would keep it close, eventually getting to within one point at halftime (20-19). Xavier Lane (16 points) and Ben Diskin (8 points) paced the Celtics throughout the game. As the second half wore on, neither team was able to create much separation. The Warriors, who were led by Mori Miller (10 points) and Ben Rosenfield (8 points), created some separation late as they were able to pull ahead in the closing minutes and hold off the Celtics. This game could have gone either way on Saturday, and it was one of the best Pro Division games we have seen in recent memory.
