The Detroit Pistons released the rosters today for the 2016 fall season of Friday Night Lights.
“This is the first year we have been sold out,” said league Director Geo Thomas, “We have 40 girls ready to play on four teams and we are very excited to get started.”
Friday Night Lights is the Detroit Pistons All-Girls Instructional League for girls in grades 4-6. They meet every Friday and will have practices over the next few weeks. “The first night of games is the same night of the Pistons Home Opener, October 28,” adds Thomas, “It should be quite a night!”
FNL has two returning coaches in Jacquie Shaw (Carnegie Mellon University) and Laura Barrick (Livonia Churchill Varsity). Both have the right mix of knowledge and patience and their teams improved greatly under their leadership last year. There are also two new coaches this season. Dan Butler has many years of coaching and playing experience. He is a patient communicator and excels at getting the best out of each player. Eileen Hillard (Michigan State University) is also new this season. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge from her playing days at MSU and overseas. As well, she has extensive coaching experience at the collegiate and varsity level.
All girls are asked to report to Berkshire Middle School this Friday at 6:30pm.
