The Pistons Academy offers several all-girl programs designed to teach the game at a fun yet challenging level.  We offer beginner programs all the way up to Elite Travel teams.  Below is a listing for late fall and winter 2017. OpenGym1PISTONS ELITE OPEN TRAINING SESSIONS:  (Girls in grades 5-8): 
Whether you are preparing for middle school basketball or just looking to work on your game or  the Pistons Elite Training Sessions will get you that extra court time you are looking for.  Pistons Elite Coaches will be on hand to teach  in these 75-minute workouts.  Held at the Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield, each session is $15.  Girls can arrive at 6pm and have a 15-minute open gym to warm up.  Then from 6:00-7:15pm, the girls will work on various skills, rule comprehension, conditioning and footwork.  RSVP with Coach Geo Thomas at Fee is $15 at the door. Training dates are as follows:

  • November:  Sunday, 26th
  • December:  Sundays -3rd, 10th, 17th

Skills Combine: Saturday, January 6, Berkshire Middle School (show up anytime between 9am-12pm)
League Draft: Saturday, January 13, 2:30-3:30pm.
Draft Location: Berkshire Middle School, 21707 W 14 Mile Rd, Beverly Hills, MI 48025
Details: Girls register as individuals and are placed on teams via a draft. Friend requests are taken, but not always guaranteed. games are Friday evenings and Saturdays anyweher between 9am-4pm. Teams play a six game season and then have a post-season tournament. Volunteer coaches are needed and should contact Geo Thomas at

Details: An instructional league for players looking to learn and refine their skills. Emphasis on team play and rule comprehension. Games and practices are Friday evenings between 6:30-8:15pm (teams will meet for just an hour in that time frame).  Teams will have three practices and a minimum of five games during the season.

Who:  Girls 6th and 7th grade travel teams with good or “Intermediate” skill levels
Details:  Welcome to the second annual Lady Pistons Overdrive-Tournament!  This all-girls tournament is designed for intermediate-level teams to compete in a fun and mega-organized tournament.  
With just two divisions, (girls 6th and girls 7th), this Sunday event will offer a 3-game minimum with a maximum of just six teams per division.  All teams must be intermediate-level and all players must show either school ID or a birth certificate at check-in.  $250 per team

Tournament will feature:

  • No back-to-back games!
  • We provide the scorekeepers!
  • Experienced and qualified officials
  • Instant results and pictures posted on-line
  • All-Tournament team awards
  • Awards for 1st and 2nd place teams
  • Snack bar
  • $5 admission fee
  • All rostered players receive a free ticket to a 2017-18 Pistons home game at LCA!
