Summer Leadership Training Meeting is January 11

LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM:  The Pistons Academy is looking for young men and women who are interested in becoming involved in the facilitation of youth basketball.  Those who are accepted into the program will be trained in skill instruction, 2017 Camp Staffcoaching, officiating, first-aid protocols, public speaking, sports reporting and all areas concerning child safety.  As well, they will be exposed to working in a professional environment with emphasis on co-worker communication and meeting supervisor expectations.  Once trained, those in the program must work a minimum of three summer camps in 2018.  There, they will put into practice what they have learned.  Candidates will be evaluated and graded at the end of each week.  Those who finish the summer with the top scores are invited back to work in other Pistons Academy programs as well as the summer of 2019.  Applicants for the program must meet the following requirements:

  1. Currently in the 7th, 8th or 9th grade
  2. Must have played on their middle school or high school basketball teamRefs
  3. Must have reliable transportation
  4. Excellent communication skills
  5. Ability to work with young athletes in grades 2-6
  6. Must be available to train at our Spring Break Camp April 3-6, 2017

The Leadership Training Program fee is $350 and no more than six applicants per year will be accepted into the program.  All candidates must attend the informative meeting on January 11:
