ACADEMY AWARDS
Each year, Pistons Academy hosts the annual “Academy Awards” at the home of the Detroit Pistons – Little Caesars Arena. The Pistons Academy Awards show is a free event that is designed to recognize all participants in our youth basketball programs.
It is by far the largest basketball party in the world! Nearly 3,000 people attended the last Academy Awards show in March 2020.
The event is fashioned similar to the Academy Awards show in Hollywood and includes many interactive events on the concourse: photo opportunities with HOOPER, Piston player autographs, pop-a-shot, photo booths and much more. Our concession stands offer special event pricing and all kids are invited down to the Pistons court to watch our dunk team perform! There are no admission charges and parking is totally free!
There is also a raffle where a $5 donation to the Pistons Academy Scholarship Fund can win participants free registration in Pistons Academy Camps for life!
The show is designed to recognize players in our leagues in the following categories: Heart of a Champion (effort), League Players of the year, Defensive MVP, Rising Star and Best Teammate (sportsmanship), Free Throw, Priority Health Smart Player of the Year, JR Nba Coach of the Year.
All players & families in our Pistons Academy youth basketball leagues automatically receive an invitation to this event.
