Like the weather outside, The 2019 Pistons Academy Camp Tour powered by Kroger is heating up as 80+ kids are ready for the camp playoffs!

“These kids are ready to compete,” said Blue Division Coach Mitchell Pitts, “I am looking forward to Fun Friday and to see who will step up when the heat is on!”

The regular season ended Friday in the 4-Ball and Free-Throw Contests.  In the FTs, Four campers locked in #1 seeds for the Tournament:  Nick Seif, Braden Vandenberg, Andrew Baker and Luke Lindeman will try to make it to the Final Four and compete in front of the entire camp.  To see the opening round match-ups, click here: MSA FT SEEDS

In 4-Ball, an unprecedented 71% of the teams (10 of 14) hit the 100 mark while two others were in the mid-90s.  Even more notable was the performance of Duke and Baylor.  Duke won their first game of the season on their last game of the week.  Baylor, after starting 0-8, finished the season on a 4-1 run to go from a 16-seed to 11.  They may be the team to watch in the playoffs.  To view the 4-Ball Bracket, click here: 4-BALL BRACKET (MSA)

Notable players of the day include: Jarvis Stevenson (Passing), Matthew Sexton (Scoring), Lucas Mahoney (Ball Handling), Ansis Allison (Hustle), Addison Heiler (Defense) Weston Kelly (Sportsmanship) and Leah Whalen (Respect)

RED DIVISION UPDATES:

From the Desk of Coach Beth… Today the Red Division had a great day- complete with lots of games. At lunch we played the game of hot seat and the campers seemed to enjoy that.
Tyler Stein was all over the floor for loose balls today, as well as racking up many steals throughout his 5 on 5 games. The number one seeds for our free-throw bracket are David Dargis, Bryson Weber, Carter Helbich, and Gian Dula-Ogon.
Some standout players today are Emily Champion and Jakais Crawford. Emily was getting very scrappy today and really locked down her defense and shooting today. Jakais did a great job with a huge gain in confidence today, which really accelerated his in game skills.  Check out this link for all the standings and scores! MSA RED STANDINGS
Thanks for reading and I will see you tomorrow!  –Coach BMac
