THURSDAY’S PLAYOFF DRAMA AT ROYAL OAK MIDDLE SCHOOL

June 28th, 2018

Alex V Dribble

Playoffs began in many contests today in Royal Oak as 4-Ball, 3-on-3 and the Free-Throw competition started their post-season play.  “It was absolutely a day of upsets,” commented Camp Director Geo Thomas, “every single #1 seed has been knocked out of competition.”

Thomas was right.  In the Free-Throw contest, all four #1 seeds were eliminated before the Sweet-16 round.  In 4-Ball, #1 seed North Carolina was upset by #8 seed Florida State in the second round of play.  And in the 3-on-3 Tournament, two teams that went undefeated in regulation lost in the playoffs.  A big shout-out to the King James team who went 0-5 in regulation but won the Silver Division Championship, 12-6 over the Crushers.

Championships in all contests will conclude tomorrow.  Check back here in the morning to view Friday’s schedule of events!
