HEAT 15, SUNS 14 (OT): In another thrilling Rookie League contest, our third overtime game already this season, the Heat squeaked out the OT victory over the Suns. Max Gokovic knocked down the game-winning free throw in overtime to give the Heat (2-0) their second victory in as many tries. Jax Atisha played a great all-around game for the Heat, scoring a game-high 10 points and making smart plays when they mattered the most. The Suns, who dropped to 1-1 on the season in heartbreaking fashion, were led by Landon Lutz’s 6 points. Trevor Shapiro and Emitt Allen each added 4 points for the Suns. Ben Ishbia chipped in 3 points for the Heat.
LAKERS 20, WIZARDS 11: The Lakers continued their winning ways with an impressive 9-point victory over the Wizards. Thursday’s victory moves them to 3-0 on the season and they are looking like a formidable squad. Miles Trice notched a game-high 11 points, including some acrobatic finishes around the rim. Brady Smith added 5 points and Jonah Zack scored 4 points to go along with his stingy defense. The Wizards, who fall to 1-1 on the season, were paced by Wyatt Ball (6 points) and Asher Zekman (4 points).
ROCKETS 15, PISTONS 14: The Rockets earned their first victory of the season in a tightly-contested match up with the Pistons. This back-and-forth game featured several ties and lead changes, with neither team giving up an inch as they battled for the win. Ultimately, the Rockets (1-1) held on for the close win behind a strong showing from Maurice Pointer Jr. (8 points). The Pistons (1-2), missing some key contributors, were led by Zachary Casey, who scored 7 points to go along with his 4 steals, and Avery Samuels scored 4 points. Dylan Woods, Ronald Dickerson and Sandeep Khullar each added 2 points for the Rockets.
