LAKERS 12, ROCKETS 10 (2OT): The first game of our Rookie League fall season was one for the ages, as the Lakers and Rockets battled into double overtime. Brady Smith hit a beautiful, game-winning reverse layup in the second overtime to seal the deal for the Lakers (1-0), who were led in scoring by Aaron Davis (6 points) and Donovan Cheek (4 points). The Rockets (0-1) were paced by Emitt Allen and Isaac Miller, who each scored 4 points. Both teams played extremely hard and gave us a thrilling match up in the season-opener, but they will need to continue improving in order to keep pace with the rest of the Rookie Division.
HEAT 18, WIZARDS 11: A balanced scoring attack saw the Heat overpower the Wizards on Thursday, as they picked up the season-opening win behind 6 points from James Ghedotte, 5 points from Jonah Zack, 3 points from Ben Ishbia and 2 points from both Aidan Etue and James Johnson. It was an impressive offensive showing for the Heat (1-0), playing in their first game together and moving the ball effectively. The Wizards (0-1) were led by Javian McCoy (4 points) and Henry Stern, Amon Edwards and Cruz Scheinfield, who each scored 2 points. Both teams will look to build on their first game and get better with each week.
