The Pistons Academy Summer Camp Tour made one of it’s two spots this week in Royal Oak where 64 campers gathered together for the Red Camp at Royal Oak Middle School. “It was quite a morning,” said Camp Director Geo Thomas, “These kids were like wild mustangs. They were definitely ready to run! We loved their energy and enthusiasm.”
Most of the camp was pre-season, however there were a few contests that got under way. In the 4-Ball contest, four teams remained undefeated after day 1. Arizona, Florida State, Princeton and Louisville all remained perfect at 3-0. Louisville boasted the camp’s best score with 83 but Arizona was close with an impressive 81, For all the 4-Ball standings, click here: RO 4-Ball Standings
In the Free-throw contest, two players share the top spot with 16 points. Ries Tuttle and Beckett Sipes were both perfect on the day by making all 10 of their free-throws. Lance Kukes is a close second with 12pts. To view all the scores, click here: RO Free Throw Scores
Many other campers made a name for themselves, including Lucy Haddad of the Red Division. Here is what, Coach Jillian, had to say: “Lucy pushed it hard today and hustled all the time. During 6-inches drill she kept her legs up and never dropped them. She has great determination!”
Also impressive was Jesse Lawrence who showed great leadership throughout the day, said Coach Mitchell, “He helped allthe teams with their 4-Ball assignments and was always encouraging others. He also worked hard during games and the Blitz.”
Others working hard today were Jude Bialas, Connor Dugan, Nathan Hendrickson and Colin Auger. All showed great effort and character throughout the day.
