Tuesday marked the final week of our winter 2017 Pistons Academy skills clinics at Franklin Athletic Club in Southfield. Players in the Pistons Academy PUP Clinic (Pre-K/KR) and the Pistons Academy Rookie Clinic (Grades 1-3) ended the 8-week course with a phenomenal evening of Detroit Hustle, Muscle, and Heart.
Throughout the past eight weeks, these young basketball players have been exposed to many of the fundamental offensive and defensive skills. The staff of Pistons Academy coaches spent each week focusing on various skills, emphasizing proper technique, and building great basketball habits. Whether it was shooting drills, defensive stance and guarding position, or take-home dribbling tests, this talented group of PUP’s and Rookies passed with flying colors.
“The most rewarding part of these past eight weeks has, without question, been the collective growth of our entire Winter 2017 class. Not only in terms of basketball skill and aptitude, but in areas beyond the basketball court as well,” said Clinic Director and Coach Bryan Bollin. “We really placed an emphasis on listening to learn, being a good teammate, and showing up with an All-Star attitude, which led to us having some great weeks where we were really able to dig in and improve our basketball skills,” said Coach Bryan. “Each player has improved their game in at least one area, and it is my sincere hope that they are all able to take something away from the clinic and work on it to become a better athlete and basketball player,” he continued.
The Pistons Academy would like to thank all of our participants, their families, and Franklin Athletic Club for a fun and successful winter of youth basketball skills clinics! We are excited for the upcoming spring leagues and summer camp lineup at Franklin Athletic Club!
