In the five years Pistons Academy has been running summer basketball camps, never has the camp experienced such amazing shooting as we are this week. “It is so fun to watch,” Said camp Director Geo Thomas, “No team is truly out of our 4-ball League and our Free-Throw scores are so high.”
In the 4-Ball competition, the average score this week is 97.2. That is the highest average score ever and the best since the Ultimate Hoops Week of 2015 where the average score was 88.5. Currently, North Carolina (5-1-1) has the highest score of 133. But they are three points out of first as Louisville and Michigan State both share a perfect 7-0 record. Those two teams will square off in a spotlight game on Wednesday afternoon. Check out the 4-Ball Scoresheet
In the free-throw contest, Camp veteran Blake Goodman is setting the pace with 19 points. But close on his tail are Jonathan Schwartz (18), Ben Schwartz (17) and tied for fourth is Ben Diskin and Aaron Thomas with 16. The final round of regulation is tomorrow where point values will be (3+3+3+3+7). Check out the Free Throw Scoresheet
In the race for MVP, so many campers are still in the running. The totals posted here are through noon today: MVP Point Totals. To view the totals through the end of camp on Tuesday, check out the TV monitor across from the gym desk at the start of camp. Currently, Ethan Watkins has the lead in MVP points with 32. Dane Zeff is a close second with 30 points
IMPOSSIBLE QUESTION: Who is the Detroit Pistons all-time leader in assists? If you know the answer, write it down on a 3×5 piece of paper and turn it in to Coach Dimitra at check-in tomorrow. Those who answer correctly will get 10 MVP points and be entered into a drawing for some cool autographed items!
