SUMMER OPENS WITH 94 CAMPERS AT FRANKLIN

June 19th, 2017

Franklin Opening

94 Boys and girls from the metro-Detroit area came together at the Franklin Athletic Club Monday to tip off the 2017 Summer Camp Tour.  “This is our 5th year at Franklin and it was by far the best opening” said Pistons Director of Fan Development Geo Thomas, “I think its going to be a great week of basketball!”

The day tipped off with Aaron Smith running the “KCP” defensive drill, always a camp favorite. Then the camp transitioned to 1-on-1 and 3-on-3 contests where campers were evaluated on their skill sets. “Its only pre-season but we’ve seen some pretty good basketball,” said Camp Director Aaron Smith, “Competitive games and plenty of great attitudes”

All of the shooting contests were under way as each team played 3 games of 4-Ball. In the Steph Curry Division, Purdue (Joshua Gibson-Captain) sits atop the standings with a 3-o record and the camp’s high score of 106. In the Chauncey Billups Division, Utah and Vanderbilt are tid for first with perfect 3-0 records.  4-Ball Monday Standings

The camp will start regular season 5-on-5 games on Tuesday.

Impossible Question: “What high school does Coach Aaron Smith coach at?”  Write your answer down on a 3×5 piece of paper and turn it in to Coach Dimitra at check-in.  Be sure to write your name on it.  All correct answers will go into a raffle for an autographed item from the Detroit Pistons.
