The Detroit Pistons Academy summer basketball camp tour, presented by Kroger, makes it’s annual stop at the Rookie Camp in Bingham Farms. This camp, for players entering grades 2-4, is designed to teach the fundamental skills and techniques needed for competitive play.
WEDNESDAY (DAY 3)
Day 3 of the annual Rookie Camp featured some exciting action in the 5-on-5 games and many different skill stations. “In the morning session, we really focused on defensive principles like staying between the player you are guarding and the basket, as well as how to properly close out and contest shots,” said Camp Director Bryan Bollin. “Later in the day, we focused more on offensive skills and worked through various shooting drills,” he added.
Wednesday also featured a “Dunk Contest” as the coaches squared off to see who the campers would crown as the Coach Dunk Champion. Coach Jordan thrilled the crowd with several high-flying dunks, including an alley-oop from one of the campers and a dunk from just inside the free throw line!
