LEAGUES
Girls League
Boys League
The Pistons Academy offers many levels of youth basketball leagues throughout the year. Our Pistons Leagues offer a division for every player and are designed for the intermediate to advanced player. These leagues are directed by seasoned professionals who understand what makes a league enjoyable for players and parents alike. Games run on time and we only use experienced officials and scorekeepers. Players will enjoy warm-up music, in-game announcements, weekly newsletters, and game recaps posted on our website. The season ends with a post-season tournament and all players receive a free ticket to a Pistons home game.
We currently have two Pistons Academy Leagues:
Royal Oak: Winter, 2023 Boys
Royal Oak: Winter, 2023 Girls

PISTONS LEAGUE PHILOSOPHY:
PISTONS LEAGUE OVERVIEW:
Our leagues are structured and designed to provide valuable game experience to all who participate. The league is NOT designed to teach the fundamentals. Rather, coaches focus mostly on game strategy and rule comprehension. All of our referees are MHSAA certified. We also use MHSAA Legacy officials (high school age) who have been trained to officiate youth league games.
Players register as individuals and are placed on teams via a draft system. Although we do take requests for players to play with their friends, there is no guarantee that will happen. In most cases, we can place siblings on the same team.
There is guaranteed playing time for all players. However, this guaranteed playing time is not equal playing time. Every player is guaranteed to play 40% of the game and their minutes are recorded by the scorekeeper. We have players of all skill levels in our league but the bulk of our players have prior game experience. We ask that if your child has never played organized basketball that you start with one of our skill clinics.
Sportsmanship is enforced at all times. Players showing poor sportsmanship on a consistent basis will be dismissed from the league without a refund. Spectator behavior is closely monitored and our coaches understand that poor behavior will not be tolerated.
